The democratic community, always a community in the making, depends not so much on what has been achieved and funded in the past. It is kept alive: it is energized and radiated by an awareness of future possibility.
- Maxine Green, Releasing the Imagination, p. 166
During the 2024-2025 academic year, Provocations focussed on "our community, always in the making". We convened a series of five professional learning circles designed to forge connections, encourage dialogue, and enrich our teaching practice through mutual support. We hope that by staying in conversation with one another we can continue to feel energized and inspired about the future of Drama and Dance in education.
Here you will find a summary of each learning circle, including Guiding Questions, a Topic Overview and and Resources. Each topic is introduced with a brief presentation, highlighting research that has direct implications for what and how we teach. Each topic overview includes practical classroom activities based on the cited research. The annotated resource list for each topic includes both professional learning resources for teachers and resources for use with students.
Each learning circle includes an invitation, with a submission link, for you to join our ongoing conversation. The Provocations community of teachers and artist educators wants to hear from you!
Learning and blossoming together!
